Class Organisation

At present there are five class units in our school, each grouped according to the ages of the children. Classes are organized on the basis of age – each child spends one year in each class from P1-P7. The numbers in each class may vary and the grouping of the classes will change from year to year. The groupings for 2011-2012 are:
Primary One
Primary Two/ Three
Primary Four/ Five
Primary Six
Primary Seven

MILK is available for all children. The charge is 13p per day. Milk should be paid for by the end of the first week of the new term.

The school, in keeping with its healthy eating policy, asks parents to ensure that only healthy snacks are sent for break e.g. a sandwich, fruit, yoghurt or vegetables. Please do not send chocolate, sweets, chocolate biscuits or crisps etc. Chewing gum is not allowed in school.
The children are allowed to bring bottled water to school for during the day.

The school provides hot cooked meals. The catering team led by Mrs Tierney, our cook, provides meals for two other schools in the area as well as our own pupils. The cost of each dinner is £2.20. Some children may be entitled to free school meals. An application form may be obtained from the Western Education and Library Board,1 Hospital Road, Omagh, Co Tyrone, BT79 0AW. It is very important that dinner money must be paid for on the first school day of each week. Children are required to give one week’s notice when changing from dinner to lunch. Children are supervised during dinner time by one lunchtime supervisor, a teacher and classroom assistants.

The school provides for the consumption of packed lunches. Children are supervised whilst taking lunch and should not bring crisps or fizzy drinks.

The school runs a book club and leaflets from either ‘Puffin’ or ‘Scholastic’ are distributed each term. The children have the opportunity to purchase books and the order forms, along with the correct amount of money, should be returned to school promptly.

P5, P6 & P7 children require their own recorder. These may be purchased from McElwaines and must be named.
